William Siff Chief Herbalist

Co-Owner / Herbalist William Siff is a licensed acupuncturist, clinical herbalist, and medicinal herb grower who draws from Western, Ayurvedic, and Traditional Chinese Medicine traditions. He holds a Masters of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College, is certified by the NCCAOM in Chinese Herbology, and is a professional member of the American Herbalist Guild. He is a nationally known speaker and teacher in the field of Natural Medicine who lectures at colleges and conferences across the country. His background includes founding the Goldthread Herb Farm in western Massachusetts where he has grown over 100 varieties of medicinal plants and has held the Farm to Pharmacy internship program. His farm was able to supply his clinical practice, as well as the community apothecary, with local, organic plant-medicine. Today, he has evolved Goldthread into an herbal beverage company that offers ready-to-drink, healing, herbal elixirs to a mainstream customer base. He works with medicinal herb projects around the world to expand the reach of grassroots, plant-based health care. William travels extensively, visiting indigenous and plant-based cultures to document and create projects for the Land is Life foundation. He acts as a consultant to projects in the herbal industry and maintains a private patient care practice from his apothecary in Northampton Massachusetts.

Edith Mehiel CMO

Co-Owner, Chief Marketing Officer Edith began her involvement with Goldthread as a student. She developed her passion for holistic health practices and medicinal plants, and eventually became business partners with William Siff in 2011. So inspired by Siff's work developing a local, plant-based health-care model, she saw the necessity for his work to find a wider audience. She helped the business become a fully sustainable teaching farm in Western Massachusetts. She and Siff are currently innovating educational offerings and expanding the brand’s strategy to connect with a national audience in order to help grassroots healthcare flourish across the United States. She is a professional member of the American Botanical Council and sits on the board of the Land is Life foundation. Prior to her work with Goldthread, Edith has worked in media and publishing for 10 years in both New York City and Los Angeles. Edith completed her undergraduate studies in Media and Communications at New York University’s Gallatin School.

Tory Smith COO

Co-owner/ Chief Operating Officer began his journey with Goldthread over five years ago with a visit to the Goldthread herb farm. He had an epiphany in that moment that plants were an integral piece of the puzzle in the ever-changing landscape of our planet and how we as humans interact with the world we live in. He immediately immersed himself in understanding plant medicine through a seven-month internship with Goldthread along with complimentary holistic medicine studies over the next few years. Tory is a certified permaculture designer and spent several years living in an eco-village in western Massachusetts where he gained first hand experience in sustainable living, tending herb and vegetable gardens, and realizing the impact of a regenerative community. He is an ardent traveler and takes every opportunity he can to immerse himself in other cultures and understand how people around the world use traditional plant medicine. He is also an avid mountain biker, triathlete, and winter sports enthusiast who uses herbal medicine and plants daily to stay healthy with his active lifestyle. Before joining the Goldthread team, Tory spent over a decade in retail and project management throughout Texas and New England. He brings his passion for bringing projects from an idea to actualization by overseeing Goldthreads daily operations from production to sourcing, and everything in between. Tory completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs school of Business.
